OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Our leadership team consists of Simon Mollel – Founder, Cathy Schrader – Co founder, and Edward Elias – Treasurer.
The team are competent, motivated, enthusiastic, inspiring, passionate, and talented, they are people who are touched by the community and always ready to make a difference. They are built with the same goals and work hard together to make sure that the goals are met and impacts are seen in the community.
Simon is from Orkeeswa in monduli, Arusha, Tanzania. Simon was one in a family of 12 children, his father had 3 wives and his mother was his father second wife and Simon was the first of 3 children. After the loss of his mother in 2012 Simon was raised by his father’s first wife. Life with his stepmother made Simon social and good at conversing with others. Being born in Maasai community for Simon was challenging for because he has witnessed the cultural practices that made him to have a dream that one day he can change the society through his education so he can challenge gender inequality in the maasai society, “give back to the community is my priority that we can create a society where women and young girls get the same opportunity as men.
We believe that little girls with dreams become women with vision.
Cathy, having travelled to over 75 countries, an influencer in womens travel, independence and empowerment brings a wealth of experience to the team. With multiple qualifications including an MBA and a Masters in teaching English as a Foreign language. Cathy’s passion for equality and women’s rights makes her the perfect person to guide NMW into its next phase and to reach its strategic goals.
Our Treasurer, Edward Elias, is from a Maasai neighbourhood. Edward is from a family where his father has two wives and a total of 12 children. He went to a school in the same community that he grew up in and managed to go to college and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Account and Finance with Information Technology. Edward has always been a person looking to make an impact in his community and he has achieved a lot through teaching and coaching before enrolling in college. After college he went back to his community to help through NMW Organization. He is always passionate about the work he does in the community he comes from.
