VOLUNTEER CONTRACT
This is the document which includes what we want from people who want to work with the NMW organization and maasai community.
We love visitors and volunteers to work with our organization.
What can I do as a volunteer with NMW Org?
We love working with everyone around the world as one of the missions of our organization.
What you do each day is partly down to what you have chosen to do. If you like working with children, we have strong relationships with four local primary schools around Maasai village. You can spend time helping children speak ,read and write in English, you can do so through one to one sessions ,small groups or the whole class. If you’re interested you can help in teaching Math, science, art, drama and music. Outside of this you need to spend some time planning your sessions. We also have life skills sessions . For those with interest in sport you can work in coaching sports such as football, volleyball ,netball , and basketball but we have insufficient sports equipment, please feel free to bring us some!
We also work with women in the community in activities of beading ,planting of trees for the one with interest of learning and sharing experience with and learn new lifestyle of the community that is a great opportunity for you to experience Maasai lifestyle as well having homestay in which you can learn how to cook local food ,language exchange and others responsibility as well sowing of sustainable sanitary pads and supplying these to the women and girls.
Do I need any experience or qualifications?
No, you do not need any formal qualification, just your time enough. We can use any subject you take outside of English as you will be following a curriculum and we can supply the textbooks that will guide you.
We want you to respect the culture and people around the maasai community. You will be working with maasai women and primary schools students
How can I get accommodation?
We are a nonprofit organization, most of our income is from donations, as a result we currently have no accommodation available for volunteers, in the small town of Monduli we have the house that you can rent at a cheaper price and you will be cooking your own food and if you sometimes don’t feel like cooking you can get food at the local supermarket or restaurant. The benefits of this is that you really understand the Maasai culture and feel immersed in the experience.
